Why Tacha Says Criticism Shouldn’t Stop With Tinubu

Former Big Brother Naija star and influencer Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has called on Nigerians to spread their scrutiny beyond President Bola Tinubu, highlighting the responsibilities of governors, senators, and local government chairmen.

In a video that went viral on Monday, Tacha addressed the recent ₦2.2 trillion allocation by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to federal, state, and local governments, stressing that the issue lies in poor management rather than a lack of funds.

Why Tacha Says Criticism Shouldn’t Stop With Tinubu

She said, “44 billion, I didn’t say million, 44 billion has been disbursed to a local government chairman. Watch how they’ll do absolutely nothing with it, because at the end of the day, they understand that Nigerians will come out and drag Tinubu. They’ll come out and drag the presidency.”

Tacha pointed out that public frustration is often misdirected, noting that even high-performing states such as Lagos are criticized, while grassroots leaders remain largely unchecked.

“It be like say only two people, Nigerians like to drag for this country. Every Nigerian has believed that their problem is Tinubu. Even with the fact that as little as a local government chairman’s office is, their responsibilities are a lot and they are absolutely doing nothing,” she added.

The reality star urged citizens to hold all elected officials accountable, especially at the local level, where many people don’t even know their chairman.

“Money has been given to your state governors, money has been given to your local government chairman, your House of Reps members, your senators. Hold them by their neck, let them deliver. If you start dragging these people individually, we’ll see that Nigeria will change,” Tacha said.

She concluded by emphasizing that criticism should not be limited to a single office but directed toward all officials in positions of authority.

For context, during its August 2025 meeting, FAAC disbursed ₦2.2 trillion to federal, state, and local governments, marking one of the largest monthly allocations in recent memory.
