Eriksen Criticises Ex-United Players for “Negative” Media Influence

Christian Eriksen has slammed the former Manchester United players who are in the media to say negative things about the current squad of Manchester United. His remark was as a result of the criticism meted out to the team by pundits and ex-players.

The Danish player who moved to Wolfsburg this summer hinted that people like Gary Neville, Roy Keane, and Paul Scholes are the ones who have the most influence over the fans and hence their negativity gets them more damaging.

Eriksen Criticises Ex-United Players for “Negative” Media Influence

Eriksen said to ESPN, “It is evident how great the club is and how much people want to be a part of the club even on media platforms that are affected by the club. Extreme and negative opinions close to the club are not the best things for the players because fans get the most influence from their heroes, all these things notwithstanding.”

Eriksen only confirmed what United had been going through by calling for truth in the assessment of United’s position right now. Since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, Man Utd has not won the Premier League trophy; however, they have won five big trophies- two FA Cups, two League Cups, and the Europa League.

The number of trophies they won in comparison to the other top six is more than Arsenal, and only two less than Liverpool, although they have not won the league and Champions League.

“If we look at the last two seasons, every club would be proud of winning the FA Cup and the Carabao,” Eriksen said. “At United, it seems like it is still not enough. Hopefully, it will be different. The Carabao is so small even if at that time it was a big thing.”
