Media personality Toke Makinwa has opened up about how becoming a mother has helped her confront and heal from deep-seated childhood trauma and grief.
Makinwa, who tragically lost her parents in a fire during her early years, revealed that she had believed she had already processed the pain. However, the arrival of her daughter, Yakira Eliana, brought unresolved emotions to the surface.
In a heartfelt social media post, the media personality shared, “My daughter brought me healing; she is daily healing parts of me I didn’t even know needed healing from my childhood trauma, from grief I thought I had dealt with a long time ago.”
Toke welcomed her first child in August 2025 and introduced her baby girl to the world on Instagram with a touching photo showing the newborn’s tiny hand clasped in hers. She described Yakira Eliana as “my miracle” and a living testament to God’s faithfulness.
Earlier, on August 13, 2025, Makinwa had announced her pregnancy, describing it as the “biggest project” and “highest calling” of her life. The news sparked an outpouring of congratulations from fans, friends, and colleagues, celebrating both the pregnancy and her successful delivery.
Motherhood, Toke revealed, has not only brought joy but has also been a source of emotional restoration, helping her address long-buried wounds she hadn’t realized were still lingering from her childhood.
