Nottingham Forest have sacked manager Ange Postecoglou following a very poor start to the season that was capped by a crushing 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday. The defeat stretched the Australian’s run of games without a victory to eight — the worst start of any Forest manager ever.
The goals by Josh Acheampong, Pedro Neto, and Reece James made sure of another heart-breaking defeat of the club from the Midlands whose dancing did not calm the uprising of the fans and the owners. The indication of Postecoglou being relieved of his duties came when the cameras showed the empty seat of club owner Evangelos Marinakis during the second half and punditry Peter Crouch saying, “the moment he left the decision was made.”
The club in a short statement confirmed: “After a string of disappointing results and performances, the club has taken the decision to relieve Ange Postecoglou of his duties as head coach. This change is with immediate effect.”
Postecoglou, who was brought in right after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked, has failed to deliver a better form. It is being reported that Sean Dyche is the front runner to take over the role.
