Nigerian singer Davido has hinted that his family would focus on their business ventures if his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, does not win re-election in 2026.

The comment came in response to a post on X by user @Wewe_of_Lagos, who joked: “If e lose na Davido go compose song for APC during 2027 campaign.”

Davido replied: “Or we can just go back to our multi-billion dollar company…”, signalling that the family has other priorities beyond politics.

Osun 2026: Davido Hints at Family’s Plan if Adeleke Fails to Win

Governor Adeleke recently announced he would seek a second term under the Accord Party, which he officially joined on November 6, 2025. The declaration was made at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, with the party’s national and state officials present.

Explaining his party switch, Adeleke said: “I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely on November 6th, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026. This was after weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders.”

He emphasized that the Accord Party’s citizen-focused policies align with his administration’s efforts to improve welfare for both residents and state workers. Adeleke expressed confidence that the party would win the August 2026 gubernatorial election.

“I welcome our party leaders into the Osun State Government House. You are now part of us, as I am also now part of you. We are united in progress and good intentions for the good people of Osun State and Nigeria at large,” he said.

Following his defection, Adeleke emerged as the Accord Party’s candidate after being the sole contestant in the party’s primary election at the Oasis Event Centre, Osogbo, where he scored 145 votes.
