Big Brother Naija star Queen Mercy Atang has shared an emotional account of a frightening incident in her home, expressing gratitude after she and her family narrowly escaped harm when the POP ceiling in her living room suddenly gave way.
The reality TV personality posted a video online showing the aftermath of the collapse and revealed that her younger sister and nanny were inside the living room at the time. According to her, both women were sewing when the ceiling unexpectedly fell, forcing them to flee to safety.

Queen explained that she was asleep during the incident and only became aware of what had happened after her mother rushed in to alert her. She admitted the news left her shaken, but her fear quickly turned to relief once she confirmed that no one was injured.
She further revealed that the incident was not an isolated one, noting that the POP ceiling in her garage had collapsed just weeks earlier, raising serious concerns about the building’s condition.
Recalling the hours before the collapse, Queen said she returned home around 4 a.m. after picking up a friend from the airport who had just arrived in Nigeria for a Guinness World Record project she is currently coordinating. Worried about safety, she convinced one of her workers to stay back overnight rather than leave in the early hours.
By morning, the worker had gone home, while her sister and nanny remained awake in the living room sewing. Queen noted that they usually sleep there after working through the night, but on this occasion, they stayed awake — a decision that likely saved their lives.
“They were still sewing when the POP ceiling fell. They literally had to run for their lives,” she wrote.
She added that she is currently under pressure, balancing preparations for the Guinness World Record project with plans to move her family to a safer and more comfortable location.
Describing the incident as a narrow escape, Queen expressed deep gratitude for divine protection. “Dear Lord, I am grateful. Thank you for your love and your protection,” she wrote.
