Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has spoken out on the long-standing rumours of a feud between her and fellow screen icon Genevieve Nnaji.
It has been widely speculated over the years that the two actresses were not on good terms, a narrative that gained traction among fans and industry watchers.
However, Omotola has dismissed the claims, insisting there was never any real conflict between them.
Speaking during an interview on Yanga FM, the actress clarified that while they were not close friends, there was no animosity between them. According to her, “people don’t need to be best friends.”

Addressing how the alleged feud started, Omotola blamed fans and public perception for creating unnecessary rivalry. “Na them start the quarrel before we know say we dey quarrel. So, we have to catch up with the quarrel. There was no quarrel,” she said.
The interviewer then asked, “Was there anything like say una been quarrel wey lasted for twenty years before EJ movie?”
Responding, Omotola explained that they maintained normal communication behind the scenes despite public speculation. “People don’t need to be best friends, but we talked. Like behind film, we dey talk normally,” she said.
She further compared the situation to the rivalry narratives often created around music stars. “You know the same thing that they do with all these music stars, na we dem take start all those things that time. Na we be the practice that time. You know all this Wizkid, Davido now that they have taken to different level, na we be the first one now,” she added.
Reiterating her earlier point, Omotola said, “Really, na them start the quarrel before we know say we dey quarrel. So, we have to catch up with the quarrel. There was no quarrel.”
She also noted that industry competition often fuels such rumours. “We were young, everybody dey do her own thing now. You know how the industry is. You know, them go pitch you against this person, talk say na this one be the hottest girl, na that one be the hottest girl. So, those kind tension go dey normally, but people they read am as other things.”
Omotola’s comments appear to finally put to rest years of speculation surrounding her relationship with Genevieve Nnaji.
