Proceedings in a high-profile legal dispute involving Aristokrat Records and its founder, Piriye Isokrari, have been adjourned to April 20, 2026, by a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The case centres on allegations of fraudulent conversion and breach of fiduciary responsibility linked to the controversial sale of Burna Boy’s early music catalogue. The legal action was instituted by 960 Music Group, a minority shareholder in Aristokrat Music, which is challenging the legitimacy of the multimillion-dollar transaction.

According to documents before the court, Aristokrat Music transferred ownership of the master recordings and intellectual property from Burna Boy’s formative years to Spaceship Music, the singer’s current label. The deal, reportedly executed between May and June 2024, involved Spaceship Music, which is owned by Burna Boy and managed by his mother, Bose Ogulu.

960 Music Group, which holds a 40 per cent stake in Aristokrat Music, claimed it was excluded from the decision-making process and did not consent to the sale. The company subsequently filed a lawsuit seeking to invalidate the transaction, a move that later resulted in criminal allegations against Isokrari.

The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) accused the record label executive of diverting funds from the sale into private accounts, allegedly depriving 960 Music Group of its rightful share of the proceeds.

At the most recent court session on Wednesday, the matter could not proceed due to Isokrari’s absence. Sources familiar with the case revealed that repeated adjournments have caused growing dissatisfaction among parties involved.

The suit was initially mentioned in December 2025 and later postponed to February 10, 2026, after neither the defendant nor his legal team appeared in court. With the continued delays, the court has now scheduled the next hearing for April 20, 2026.
