Veteran television host Krystn Enem has opened up about why she disappeared from the media scene at the peak of her career, revealing that severe burnout forced her into an eight-year break.

Before stepping away, Enem had built a loyal audience through The Krystn Enem Show, which originally aired on PRTV before expanding to Africa Magic Urban on DSTV and GOTV. Her engaging interview style earned her recognition after hosting top Nigerian entertainers such as Olamide, Falz, Yemi Alade, Simi, Lolo, Denrele Edun and JJC Skillz.

Explaining her decision in a statement obtained by PUNCH Online on Sunday, Enem said the break became unavoidable after years of nonstop work.

“I took a break because I was tired, mentally, emotionally, physically, psychologically. Everything. I was even financially tired.

” A lot had happened in my life, and I had been working non-stop for almost 10 years. My body just shut down. I couldn’t think,” she said.

According to her, what was meant to be a short rest gradually stretched into several years.

“One week of creative block became two weeks, then a month, then two months. I decided to take six months off, and life just kept happening.

“What was supposed to be a six-month break ended up becoming an eight-year break.”

Looking back, Enem described the time away from the spotlight as deeply transformative, marked by major life changes such as becoming a mother and relocating to the United States.

Now back in the media space, she has launched a new digital project, Conversations with Krystn Enem, available exclusively on YouTube and Spotify. The podcast focuses on personal growth, identity, relationships, and emotional wellness.

“Growth happens when we start talking. Life moves fast, but here, we slow it down,” she said.

Enem added that her return signals a new phase, combining her media experience with the corporate exposure she gained while living abroad.
