Everton debuts a strong statement of win with a 3-0 triumph over Chelsea at Hill Dickinson Stadium, achieving their first Premier League home win of the season against a top-six side and at the same time, putting a big hole in Chelsea’s top-four dream.
Chelsea’s coach, Liam Rosenior, struggled to find the rhythm of the game as their start was far from convincing. For instance, goalkeeper Robert Sánchez came very close to blundering when he was looking to handle the ball under pressure from Beto; afterward, James Garner directed a shot that was blocked off the line by Malo Gusto and near the goal.

The first goal came shortly after the 30-minute mark when Garner, breaking down the middle, passed beautifully to Beto, who, without haste, chipped the ball over Sánchez to put Everton in front. The home side kept the lead into the break, thanks to Pickford’s reflex save, one of the few flickers in a game that belonged to Everton.
After the break, the visitors increased pressure and tried to find the equalizer but on the other hand, Everton doubled the score with a counter-attack. Idrissa Gana Gueye served a great pass to Beto, who shot powerfully, and the ball slipped between Sánchez and the post to make it 2-0. Eventually, the hosts wrapped up the victory when Ndiaye found the top corner after Beto’s assist.
As a result, the Toffees move one step closer to the upcoming European competitions; however, Chelsea’s nightmare seems unending as their recent exit from the Champions League proved to be an addition to their woes.
