Nigerian music star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has shared insights into his career journey and revealed a shift in his musical direction.
During an interview on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show with Eddie Kadi, the singer reflected on his global success, noting that he has performed on major stages worldwide and earned multiple Grammy nominations in recent years.
According to him, having reached significant milestones, his focus is now on embracing his identity by creating music that fully represents his African roots rather than tailoring sounds to international markets.

“This part of my career, I have performed everywhere, sold out every arena, I have been to three Grammys in the last three years. The music that is coming next is very Davido, it is very African. We have done it so I am not really looking to really do western sounds,” he said.
Davido also highlighted the strong support he enjoys in South Africa, stating that a large portion of the country’s population is familiar with his work and appreciates his music.
The singer has collaborated with several South African artists over the years and has earned multiple certifications in the country, reinforcing his widespread influence across Africa.
