Mykhailo Mudryk has officially appealed his suspension that came as a result of a failed doping test at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This is a development amidst ongoing speculations about the future of the Ukraine winger at Chelsea FC.

After being tested positive for the banned substance called meldonium, Mudryk’s international player involvement with Ukraine ended in November 2024. The winger who is 25 years old has been digging for the truth to clear his name of any intentional doping while Chelsea made it public that they were standing behind Mudryk even after the announcement of the test.

The last time the maximum penalty was handed in football was when the Football Association tried to punish the player with a 4-year ban according to sources. Mudryk who is also in his prime will be heading to CAS, in the hope of getting his suspension reduced. Paul Pogba was also in the same scenario and he managed a successful appeal that saw his suspension reduced from four to 18 months.

In February 2026, Mudryk lodged an appeal to CAS, and this was confirmed by the court. The case is still going on and there is no date decided when the hearing will be. If the ban is reduced in a big way, then even the time served so far when separated can lead to an immediate comeback.

Although his binding contract is until 2031, Mudryk’s part that is to be played for Chelsea has not yet been made clear. The club has further beefed up its attacking options during the time they were without the player which leaves the winger’s future to customers very much still open even if he gets a favorable decision.
