The president is scheduled to visit an NBA Finals game in New York next week following an invitation from New York Knicks’ owner, James Dolan.
Trump said on Thursday that “I’m going to see if I can make the 3rd and possibly the 4th,” as that depends on how available he is. “Yes, he did,” Trump replied, “he invited me, I’m going. I’ll be there. It may be Monday, I may do both.” This will be the first appearance by the Knicks in the NBA Finals since 1999.
They take a 1-0 lead in the series over the San Antonio Spurs following a victory at the last moment of the first game of the series. The Knicks remain 12-0 in the current playoffs.

Trump noted how well the Knicks are playing and made a mention of Dolan for building up a championship roster and Victor Wembanyama as a talented player. The NBA commissioner’s office has stated that they welcome Trump to the NBA Finals, who is the first president in history to be attending the finals.
They have further stated that they would be stepping up security during his trip. The presence of the president is expected to draw yet more attention to this historic finals series as the Knicks hope to bring home their first NBA title since 1973.
