Who is Christina Matovu?
Christina Matovu is a fast-rising singer who is from Uganda, she is also a songwriter. Christina lives in London. It has been more than 6 years since she began singing professionally. The singer, who is said to be in either her late 20’s or early 30’s went to the famous “Institute of Contemporary Music Performance” in London. Christiana also sings as a gospel artist as well as a soul artist, she is part of “the Insignia Choir”, and Christina is also part of the ” London Community Gospel Choir” team. She began singing from a very young age, she sang in church and she is of the view that music is home to her, music creates an avenue which she can reveal her real self and be vulnerable as well.
Christina Matovu’s Music Career and Her Role as A Backup Artist For Burna Boy
When Christina was interviewed, she revealed that she joined Burna Boy’s music performance band titled “The Outsiders” in 2017. After that, she now rose to the status of being the main backup singer for all of Burna Boy’s performances.
Christina, when asked about the artists and persons she draws inspiration from, she mentioned; Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Mariah Carey, and Kierra Sheard as the main inspiring persons tuning her musical career. She included that besides the above-mentioned personalities, her elder brother named ‘ Douglas”, who was said to have been into the bands when she was still very much younger, stirred the largest musical inspiration in her musical career.
She was a contestant on the popular BBC show titled ” The Voice UK (2015)” for its Season 4 edition, where she performed superbly that judge Ricky Wilson was appealed by her performance at the blind auditions. This landed her a quota in his team. Notably, during the show, Christina said that the one musical instrument she would want to purchase is anyone that can get rid of voice loss. Even though she didn’t make it to the finals as she was evicted at the Knockout Rounds, that feeling and turn-out didn’t slow her down.
Not only is she a vocalist, but Christina Matovu is also a lady of multiple talents, she is an ardent writer and a music producer as well. Christina dished out her first EP in the year 2015, it goes by the name “Heart Art”. The debut has songs like “Find Forever” and “Love Through It”.
