Not many female artists are top in the hip-hop music space when compared to their male counterparts. However, considering these differences, women are mostly left out when it comes to attaining the top in the music industry which may be heavily caused by not trying consistently and the lack of a level-playing ground, these are the challenges cutting their tails in the game. Going by History, it also appears that the male gender patronizes rap music more than females, which may also have impacted the way they see the music category.

Notwithstanding all these, Sophiegrophy, a hip-hop star is changing the Narrative. Sophiegrophy is a fast-booming-Nigerian singer, she was said to have been raised in New Zealand and is now staying in Australia. Sophiegrophy has been making several performances and streams on various digital platforms (kudos to incredible projects and the talent to boot) even with the difficulties that are witnessed due to the gender barrier in hip-hop music in Nigeria and the world in general. Sophiegrophy is so much interested to show that she can break the limits that are stopping the stardom breakout of many a female upcoming artist in hip-hop music.

Over the seasons, Sophiegrophy has grown to get familiar with the very instances and situations that are hindering her gender in the music space although, years back, different classes of female artists have been fighting their way to the top of the hip-hop category which is a positive step in breaking of the gender bias in music. The Nigerian-born female artist is now making a massive blow in the universe of ” New Wave Hip Hop”, she is also making it in the underground Club Culture. Sophiegrophy has inputted lots of effort in the past. She first dropped a series of amazing projects to win the heart of her hip-hop audience (her projects include; Crazy life, Drehpehs, etc.). Recently, Sophie and her gang are prepared to set the bar up to the sky in other to break every gender norm in hip-hop music, therefore she decided to dish-out her first official single for the year as she prepares for the forthcoming EP.

In her latest song titled ” Question Mark,” Sophiegrophy employed the technique of Sasha-P nostalgia, who is on the list of the ever-known ‘baddest’ female rappers when you come to the Nigerian hip-hop scene. Her manner of delivery is wonderful and clear while her mastery of the Afrobeat style surpasses the average blend of a diaspora artist. The track by Sophiegrophy is no doubt putting the industry and her listeners on their toes, ticking the square for a kind of person who is seemingly unstoppable; ‘Question Mark’ is truly a blockbuster for Sophiegrophy.
