The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially launched the Performance Evaluation and Results Management Information System (PERMIS) Framework as part of efforts to strengthen accountability, improve service delivery, and promote a results-driven culture within the agency.

The framework was unveiled on Friday at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja, during a ceremony that also featured the signing of Directorates Performance Bonds and the investiture of PERMIS ambassadors and focal persons.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Planning, Research and Statistics, DM Bagari, described the PERMIS Framework as a strategic instrument designed to enhance institutional performance, strengthen monitoring systems and improve the overall quality of services provided by the Service.

In her address, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, said the initiative reflects the Service’s determination to build a performance-oriented institution focused on accountability, measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.

She noted that the effective implementation of the PERMIS Framework would improve operational efficiency and support the ongoing Federal Government Public Service Performance Management Reform Agenda.

A major highlight of the programme was the signing of performance bonds by heads of all NIS directorates, committing them to clearly defined institutional targets and measurable performance indicators.

The ceremony also included the investiture of PERMIS ambassadors and focal persons, who are expected to oversee the implementation and monitoring of the framework across the Service.

According to the Nigeria Immigration Service, the introduction of the PERMIS Framework reinforces its commitment to institutional reform, transparency and the delivery of efficient, accountable and citizen-centred immigration services.

The Service added that the initiative aligns with broader federal efforts to improve public sector performance through enhanced monitoring, evaluation and results-based management.
