Brentford at Gtech Community Stadium will be another chance for Chelsea to put a dent in their terrible recent record versus Brentford.
It has been nearly five years since Chelsea won at the Gtech at all, with the Blues securing a 1-0 win under Thomas Tuchel on October 16, 2021, through Ben Chilwell.
Brentford have not won at all since then either, having not won a home league game against Chelsea since 1938, but recent seasons have been very difficult for Chelsea.
Chelsea have drawn each of their last four matches at the Gtech, including last season’s draw when Enzo Maresca’s side looked like they had the game won after Moises Caicedo’s second-half strike in the 85th minute, only for Fabio Carvalho to strike an 89th-minute equalizer.
Brentford’s set-piece threat is also still a major issue, especially their long throws, with Keith Andrews’ side aiming long to players such as Michael Kayode, Mathias Jensen or Ethan Pinnock to create chaos in the penalty box. In response, Chelsea have brought set-piece coach Austin Mac Phee over from Aston Villa this summer.
Meanwhile, Brentford have a tough time containing attacking trio Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro, with at least one of the three scoring in every Premier League game this season.
