Spanish manager Mikel Arteta will remain at Arsenal at least until next summer after signing a new, better deal, according to a report.
His present contract was to end next summer. Arteta’s management was trying through the months with a hope of getting a contract beyond the expiry time.
Earlier this month, reports stated that the negotiations were moving along nicely and that Arteta and Arsenal were pretty much close at being on the same page.
In the end, the two agree and Arteta will keep being the boss in north London following his takeover of the club in December 2019.
While the club has not confirmed the term of the contract, many expect that the new one will bind Arsenal and Arteta at least till the end of the 2020s, i.e., Arteta’s 10th full season at the club.
He will also get a substantial raise from the presently set annual salary of £10 million with some financial incentives and bonuses coming along.
During different interviews, he has reiterated his desire to stay in London, as he feels he has much more to give in working with the club.
“They [the fans] don’t need to worry about such things because I really enjoy being here, ” Arteta said earlier this week.
“I’m very happy. And, honestly, I’m really grateful for working with the team mates and the other members at the club.”
Ahead of the new season, Arteta’s new deal will bring yet more stability for Arsenal as they carry on their project at the Emirates.
