Manchester City are alleged to have been found guilty of 114 of 115 financial charges made against them by the Premier League.
City were charged in February 2023 after an inquiry into claims of financial misconduct which spanned from 2009 to 2018. It has been over three-and-a-half years since the matter moved forward.
The Athletic reports a verdict has been reached, with the City found guilty on 114 of the charges. City have always contested the charges and are likely to appeal.
“The Premier League process continues to be ongoing and there is a great deal more to do, and is subject to absolute confidentiality,” City added in a statement.
Therefore the position of the Manchester City FC remains as in the statement of February 2023.
The Times report the Premier League are confident it will be able to uphold the decision if City appeal.
The punishment has yet to be determined and it is a case that will continue to appeal.
Possible disciplinary action could range from fine and points deductions while the rules of the Premier League also dictate harsher consequences, up to the complete relegation of a club from the division.
Other retrospective action may be pursued, which could include titles held during this time period.
Hence, the appeal from City and its ultimate punishment are set to be the next chapter in the infamous saga.
