Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has beaten Harry Kane to win England’s Player Of The Year accolade for an unprecedented second straight season, having been chosen by fans via the official Three Lions app after his brilliant displays for the national side this year.
Bellingham struck seven times and provided one assist in eight games at the 2026 World Cup, where England took bronze.
Bellingham becomes just the second player in history to take home the accolade on successive years – Wayne Rooney has held the record for most wins (four) – while expressing how much winning means to England captain.
“I’m really chuffed, it’s an incredible feeling,” he said after picking up the award from fans at Wembley Stadium. “To be recognised by the fans again is a great honour.”
England manager Thomas Tuchel backed this sentiment, calling Bellingham ‘one of the best’ in the tournament and adding that he was ‘always ready when put under pressure’.
“When I saw the announcement come through that I’d scored 150 career goals for my country it was really special,” Kane told the Football Association website.
“I’m very proud to have done this, and can’t thank my teammates and coaches enough for getting me here.”
