The 32-year-old was reportedly unable to be persuaded by both Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) president Pedro Proença and Portugal boss Jorge Jesus to stay at the training base, after the pair had a private conversation with the former Real Madrid star.
Spanish newspaper Marca writes that, having retrieved his possessions, Ronaldo left the team hotel on Wednesday to head for Copenhagen airport for a private jet to Madrid.
Jesus and Proenca had then tracked Ronaldo to the airport in an effort to persuade the 41-year-old to remain with the squad, but the captain of Portugal stood firm.
Ronaldo declared on social media that he had left the camp after a discussion with Proenca and would be explaining himself at a later date. The FPF subsequently stated that the forward had left.

The statement was made hours after Jesus said the Portuguese forward would be training with the group and refused to comment on any row between the two.
Jesus, however, did admit that he held a secret chat with Ronaldo on Tuesday, shortly after the Al Nassr man was snubbed from Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway.
He told the jury that Ronaldo was angry with him, but it was “water under the bridge”.
Leaving camp could also lead to disciplinary issues for Ronaldo – FPF regulations state that players who leave camp without permission could be barred for one to six months.
