FBI Director Kash Patel has announced his engagement to country singer and political commentator Alexis Wilkins, with the couple sharing the news on social media on Sunday.
Wilkins posted a black-and-white photograph of herself with Patel, displaying her engagement ring as she announced the couple’s plans to marry.
“Went and got the law involved,” she wrote in the caption, making a reference to Patel’s position as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Patel later shared the engagement announcement on his own social media page, accompanying it with heart and engagement-ring emojis.
Patel, 46, and Wilkins, 27, have reportedly been together for more than three years. Reports said they first met at a gathering in Nashville in 2022 before beginning a relationship in early 2023.
Wilkins is a country music singer who has also established herself as a political commentator. She has performed at several conservative and political events across the United States and released her debut album in 2023.
She has also appeared at events linked to President Donald Trump and his political movement.
Wilkins was present in February 2025 when Patel was sworn in as FBI director after receiving confirmation from the US Senate. Patel, who was nominated by Trump, became the first person of Indian descent to lead the FBI.
The couple’s relationship has previously attracted public attention because of Patel’s government position and Wilkins’ involvement in political events.
Patel has also faced scrutiny over his use of FBI aircraft for personal and political-related travel. One incident involved an FBI aircraft travelling to Pennsylvania for an event where Wilkins performed the US national anthem.
Before becoming FBI director, Patel served in the Trump administration and worked as a congressional investigator. His 2025 confirmation drew opposition from Democrats, who questioned his experience and political independence.
Wilkins, meanwhile, has continued to build her public profile through country music and political commentary, including appearances at conservative gatherings.
Their engagement announcement adds a personal development to the public profiles of two figures who have attracted attention through their respective careers and political activities.
