The Nollywood veteran actor has disclosed that his relationship with Bola Tinubu dates back several years ago.  He has additionally explained the reason behind why he and a few of his colleagues of Yoruba extraction have agreed to support and back the All Progressives Congress -APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for the presidency next year.

The Yoruba actors, which also included Adebayo Salami Oga Bello, Yinka Quadri, and Funke Daramola-Salako, were ridiculed, derided, and condemned by a lot of Nigerians on social media after a video of them endorsing Bola Tinubu for president surfaced.

The angry Nigerians were of the mindset that celebrities should avoid using their influence and shine to openly back any politician. Prince Kosoko in an interview revealed that the support was a way to pay back to Tinubu for what he had done for them in the movie industry.

He said, “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is not just a leader of note, he is a father figure and benefactor. I have benefited from him and his wife. I have had a relationship with his family for a long time”

He was quick to ask, however, if celebrities were the only ones exempt from voicing out their support for their preferred politician. “Are celebrities the only ones that embrace politicians? Don’t we have engineers, lawyers, and other professionals moving with them? Does being a celebrity mean one is no longer Nigerian and that one does not have the right to one’s opinions?”

Meanwhile, the thespian further advised the Nigerian youths to be a part of the upcoming general elections by getting their permanent voter’s card first and foremost.
