Aston Villa threaten to sue Jamie Carragher over comments on club and fans: Responds to apology. The former Liverpool defender had made claims regarding the club and its fans.
The club’s chairman Nassef Sawiris said the club intends to take action over Carragher’s comments that were “unacceptable insults”.
“JCE will sue Jamie Carragher for his offensive comments about the club and the fans,” Sawiris added.
He also told the player: “You will not be allowed to stop us from increasing our share of English and European football.”
“I would want to leave that club for one similar to Manchester United” – Villa fans unhappy with Carragher following Old Trafford comparison. Carragher came in for some flak from Villa fans after saying manager Unai Emery would want to sign for Manchester United from Villa because of the club’s size.
“‘Aston Villa will never be Manchester United,’ Carragher said on the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast.

After the criticism, the veteran apologized to the club, its owners, and its supporters, admitting that he had chosen his words poorly.
“I inadvertently used the wrong words for my language this week,” he wrote on social media, saying his comments were made tongue-in-cheek.
Emery has, over the past four years, reached the Champions League twice and clinched the Europa League last term, ending a 30-year trophy drought.
His success has enhanced his standing in this area, but the comments from Carragher have since become a matter of public exchange, with the former being pitted against the club.
