It’s that time of year again for our Muslim brothers and sisters. The federal government has announced that Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th will be public holidays to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir. This announcement was made by Interior Minister Rauf Argbesola in a statement by Dr. Shuaib Belgore, the ministry’s parliamentary secretary.

“I call on Muslims to continue to embrace the spirit of love, peace, kindness, and sacrifice exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and also to use the time to work for peace “To pray for unity, prosperity and stability of the country in the face of the challenges of uncertainty we are currently facing,” the statement read in part.

Argbesola expressed his heartfelt joy at the celebration of the event to all Muslim believers in Nigeria and abroad and advised them to use this holy time to pray for the peace and prosperity of the country as Islam is a religion of peace.

We all must take responsibility for the safety of life and property while celebrating this year’s festival,” he said.

Argbesola said the President’s management is focused on fighting for the security of life and property in Nigeria, enabling citizens to live prosperously, ensuring social amenities are available, and also fighting insecurity.

“Aregbesola longed for the indulgences of Nigerians to come together, to bring our minds, hearts, and everything we have together to achieve relative peace for harmonious coexistence and end the insecurities in Nigeria,”

Let’s live in peace because Eid-el-Kabir does not mean violence, it means peace.
