A resident of Referefu area of Oja odan Ogun state, who goes by the name Samson Ogundele was arrested for having forceful and sexual knowledge of a teenager and trying to rape another teenager who is an apprentice of a certain hairdresser in the area.
According to Abimbola Oyeyemi the spokesperson of the Ogun state police force, one of the victims came to report the incident to the police, according to her 1000 naira was missing from the shop, so they all went to the herbalist for him to use his powers to fish out the thief amongst them.
The herbalist invited them one by one into his consultation room and collected a sum of 700 naira from each of them, when it got to her turn the Herbalist tried to rape her, but she managed to escape and then decided to report this incident to the police.
She said “On getting to the herbalist, he started calling them into a room one after the other after collecting #700 from them.
On hearing her story, the DPO of the division ordered that the Herbalist be immediately arrested and all the apprentices invited for questioning. It was during questioning that one of the girls opened up that the herbalist raped her and threatened to use his powers to kill her if she speaks out. She was immediately taken to the hospital where it was confirmed that she was actually raped. The accused later confessed that he actually did rape the girl who according to Nigerian law is still a minor
“Upon her complaint, the DPO Oja-Odan division, CSP Gabriel Ikechukwu, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was arrested.
“It was while interrogating him that one of the girls, who is 17 years old, confessed that the herbalist had already had carnal knowledge of her when she met him at the consulting room.
“She stated further that the herbalist threatened that she would die if she informed anybody.
“The victim was immediately taken to General Hospital Oja-Odan where the doctor on duty confirmed that the girl has been defiled.
“The herbalist himself has confessed to the commission of the crime.”
