Umoren, was a graduate of Philosophy at the University of Uyo when Uduak murdered her as she was job hunting for April 2021 as she was waiting to be mobilized for NYSC. The Law Court however discharged and acquitted Frank Akpan and Anwan-Bassey Akpan, who were the second and third accused persons.

Uduak-Abasi Akpan, who had invited the deceased for a fake job interview, stood on trial on a two-count charge of rape and murder.

The second accused person, Frank Akpan who was the father of the accused, had been charged with accessory after the murder, and the third accused man, Anwan-Bassey Akpan, Uduak Akpan’s sister had been charged with harboring her brother in her residence in Calabar to assist the accused to escape the law.
