Two Air France pilots who had engaged in a fist fight inside the cockpit of an Airbus A320 flight from Geneva, Switzerland to Paris CDG, France, have just been suspended.
The airline company had released a statement affirming that the pilot and co-pilot got into an argument a little after take-off and thereafter, had been in a brawl before the cabin crew intervened and separated the two fighters.
An airline spokesman said on Monday that the pilot and co-pilot who are still anonymous had had a quarrel shortly after take-off and had grabbed each other by the collars after one of them had thrown a punch.
“The incident was immediately resolved without affecting the conduct or safety of the flight, which continued normally. The pilots concerned are at present suspended from flying and are awaiting a managerial decision on the outcome/treatment of the incident. Air France reminds us that the safety of its customers and crew members is of absolute importance,” an airline spokesperson had said in a statement.
The news about the fighting pilots was made public when the Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA) released a report after the news of the combating co-pilots had made rounds, noting the several incidents that Air France pilots had failed to adhere to safety procedures.
