A senator from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been added by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the campaign staff for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC’s nominee for president in the 2023 election.
The APC presidential campaign council was made public on Wednesday by PDP senator Chimaroke Nnamani, who represents the Enugu East senatorial district.
Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu State, is seated at position 350 on the campaign council, which has 422 members. He is identified as a directorate member of the municipal government.
Last month, the PDP senator lauded Tinubu as a capable politician whose accomplishments in politics he admires but said that he will support PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
President Muhammadu Buhari will preside over the APC’s 422-member presidential campaign council on Monday. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is not on the list.
Kashim Shettima, the vice presidential nominee, will serve as vice chairman of the council, with Tinubu and APC chairman Abdullahi Adamu serving as their respective deputy chairmen.
As director general of the campaign council, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong will be supported by former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Former House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, and Minister of State for Education Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba are also absent from the list.
Oshiomhole is named as the director of media and publicity, and Bayo Onanuga is identified as the deputy director-general (operations).
Rauf Aregbesola, the interior minister, who had a falling out with Tinubu in the months before the Osun governorship race, is also on the list.
In its state chapters across Nigeria, the APC presidential campaign council lists the names of current and former governors, ministers, senators, and other influential individuals.
