Folarin Balogun, Arsenal’s player has stated that he is ready to represent Nigeria at the international level if he is invited to play for them.
Arsenal loaned Balogun to Reims, and he is currently one of Reim’s best players in Ligue 1 as he has already registered seven goals and two assists in 12 games this season.
Balogun is eligible to represent his birth country the United States of America, England, and Nigeria.
According to Balogun, he hasn’t been invited by Nigeria, but he’s ready to represent them if they decide to have that conversation with him as Nigeria holds a special place in his heart considering that he’s originally from Nigeria.
He further added that the only way he’ll play for Nigeria is if that conversation is held with him
“I haven’t heard anything from Nigeria, but I’m open to anything because Nigeria is very close to my heart,” Balogun told BBC Sport Africa.
“My family’s from there. I always have love for Nigeria.”
That’s a conversation that I need to have with people around me, my agent, and obviously my family,” added Balogun.
“But if I was asked about the opportunity to play for Nigeria, then I can have that conversation. But first, I need to be asked,” Balogun added
With Nigeria having lost out on Arsenal’s Nwaneri, it wouldn’t be wise to loose to lose Balogun to England or The United States of America, as the three times African Champions will be needing every available talent they can get.
