The African Action Congress -AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has heavily criticized the plan of the Central Bank of Nigeria -CBN, to redesign the Naira notes.

The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, had earlier on Monday, October 24, announced the plan to launch redesigned notes by December 15, 2022.

Emefiele had revealed this at a press briefing in Abuja, and he also said the apex financial institution had already secured the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari, for the plan.

According to Emefiele, this initiative by CBN would address some of the nation’s security threats including banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism.

However, Sowore was not having it as he reacted to the plan with a tweet, slamming the CBN Governor for the development.

He tweeted:

“The Central Bank of Nigeria to redesign banknotes 200, 500 and 1000 notes instead of boosting the value of the Naira. Jokers! It is time to sack the CBN Governor, Emefiele.”
