The 29 years old is trying his best to revive his career in the club, considering that Ten Hag prefers the duo Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.
Maguire has been off the pitch for while, due to high injury, but has returned to training with his teammates, and even featured for United in their win against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Fernandez was given the captaincy armband to serve as interim captain during Maguire’s absence. Yorke believes that Fernandez has been informed already that he’ll be the next captain.

Speaking to Lord Ping, Yorke said: “Before he was the stand-in captain, which wasn’t a problem. I think with the Maguire scenario, looking from the outside in at the club without knowing all the details, I think he’s been told he’s going to be the captain going forward.
“When a manager tells you something like that, then that weight comes off. So now he’s thinking, ‘Right, this is my new role.’
