US President Donald Trump has indicated that he may consider rapper Nicki Minaj for the position of White House press secretary following a suggestion during a recent podcast interview.
Trump was asked about the possibility of the “Super Bass” singer taking up the role during an appearance on the political commentary programme, The Benny Show.
“That’s a good idea. I think I’ll have to think about that. I’m gonna think about that,” the president replied. He also suggested that the programme’s host, Benny Johnson, could be suitable for the position.
The conversation comes amid Minaj’s growing involvement in Trump’s political activities. The rapper recently joined the president at a rally in Port Huron, Michigan, where she expressed support for Republican candidates Mike Rogers and John James ahead of the midterm elections.
The October 25 event also saw Trump acknowledge Minaj’s presence and invite her to stand before the audience. While addressing the crowd, he drew attention to her appearance with a remark about her “beautiful a—”.

Minaj travelled to Michigan aboard Air Force One alongside Trump and members of his administration. She later shared a video of herself walking around the aircraft on X, captioning it, “#AirForceOneBARBIE.”
Speculation about her possible appointment emerged after Katie Zacharia left the press secretary position just five days after assuming the role in mid-October.
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung further fuelled the discussion by posting footage of a mock interview with Minaj aboard Air Force One.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary,” Cheung wrote on X while tagging the rapper.
Minaj has also participated in other activities linked to the Trump administration. Earlier this year, she served as a judge in its Million Dollar Pitch Competition, a small-business initiative that shared a $1 million prize pool among finalists.
