Twitter is being sued on account of Elon Musk’s plan to terminate at least 3,700 jobs at the company. This would mean, it was discovered, that about half of Twitter’s workforce would be affected by the mass sacking and retrenchment.

Meanwhile, Twitter employees have stated that the company eliminating workers without enough notice violated federal and California laws. This was according to Bloomberg.

A lot of Twitter employees had logged on to the microblogging platform after losing access to their laptops, emails, and internal slack channels.

A class-action lawsuit had been filed on Thursday, November 3 in San Francisco federal court. In an email to employees, Twitter was to begin cutting staff today, November 4.

Regardless, Musk had already promised to cut costs at the platform he purchased for $44 billion last month, sources close to him had revealed.

In the U.S, the Federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act -WARN, bars large companies from mounting mass layoffs without at least 60 days of prior notice.

The lawsuit has already urged the court to issue an order directing Twitter to obey the WARN Act, and stop the company from persuading employees to sign documents that could give up their right to participate in the litigation.

Twitter has yet to respond to comments at the time of this publication.
