Nigerians on the microblogging app -Twitter, have heavily criticized the former Vice President and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, saying his tenure with Olusegun Obasanjo had laid the foundation for Nigeria’s crises today.

According to reports, Atiku had on Saturday, suggested that Obasanjo ought to be on the redesigned naira notes which are being created by the Central Bank of Nigeria, -CBN.

Atiku had on Twitter reported that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration should put Obasanjo on the naira note to help serve as an inspiration to the “future generations of Nigerians.”

In his tweet, the PDP candidate said:

“I celebrate the extraordinary prowess of His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in bringing peace to Ethiopia. I am not surprised. I know my boss. He did the same thing in Liberia and São Tomé and Príncipe during our time in office.”

Meanwhile, Atiku has received backlash from Nigerians over his statement. The angry tweeps had remarked that both the former president and vice president had begun plunging the country into irredeemable decline, therefore, they do not deserve to be on the new naira notes.
