Lionel Scaloni, Argentina’s Coach believes that Messi might still be part of the Argentinian squad in the 2026 World Cup.

Everyone is aware that this might be Messi’s last world cup considering his age, but it seems the Argentinian coach isn’t ready to let go of him yet.

According to Scaloni, he hopes that this will not be Messi’s last world cup, as he is still very relevant to the world, and if he is taken proper care of there’s a possibility that he’ll still play for a long time.

“This May be his last World Cup, but hopefully not,” Scaloni said (h/t beIN Sports). “He is happy on the field and makes a lot of people happy. If we take care of him and carry him as we have to, there is the possibility of more games because the world of football asks for it.”

Well this is not untrue, as Dani Alves made it to the Brazilian national team at age 39 so Messi can actually feature in the 2026 world cup if he wishes too
