Local authorities in Maryland, USA, reported that a tiny plane’s pilot and passenger were trapped when the aircraft collided with electricity wires on Sunday.

According to Pete Piringer, chief spokesperson for Montgomery County (MD) Fire & Rescue Service, rescue units were called to reports of a small plane flying into electrical wires in Montgomery County at about 5:30 p.m. local time.

When emergency responders got there, they saw a small plane that had hit the tower hanging about 100 feet in the air.

Despite being confined, the pilot and passenger were unharmed.

According to the Pepco utility business, which provides electric service to around 894,000 customers in Washington, DC, and adjacent areas in Maryland, about 85,000 customers are currently without power as a result of the crash.

“We have confirmed that a private plane came into contact with Pepco’s transmission lines in Montgomery County, resulting in an outage to approximately 85,000 customers.” Pepco tweeted.

Roads are closed as rescuers devise a rescue strategy, and the fire department is in contact with the pilot and passenger, according to Piringer.

The single-engine Mooney, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, took off from Westchester County Airport in New York. The organization and the National Transportation Safety Board will also look into the occurrence.
