The Federal Government has stated its willingness to work with the Indian Government to eliminate the use of bogus Nigerian passports in India.

Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, stated this in a statement published by the ministry’s Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Afonja Ajibola, on Sunday in Abuja.

Aregbesola made this known to him when meeting with the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Gangadharan Balasubramanian, in Abuja.

The minister stated that Nigeria would be eternally thankful to the Government and people of India for their assistance throughout Nigeria’s anti-colonial fight that resulted in independence.

Aregbesola committed Nigeria’s full cooperation with India’s Immigration Service in putting a halt to the actions of unscrupulous individuals and syndicates engaged in the fraudulent procurement of phony official Nigerian travel credentials to enter India unlawfully.

He urged both nations to work more closely together by sharing beneficial information and intelligence reports that would aid in unmasking those implicated and bringing them to justice.

He stated that the federal government frowned on all illegalities and would not tolerate persons obtaining fraudulent visas to gain unauthorized entry into another country.
