According to Samuel Egube, commissioner for economic planning and budget, Lagos State would spend N482.86 billion (27.3%) of its N1.768 trillion budget on providing modern infrastructure for its citizens.

He said yesterday at a press conference about the analysis of the “Budget of Continuity” for 2023. His colleagues Gbenga Omotoso (Information and Strategy), Akin Abayomi (Health), Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo (Education), Rabiu Olowo (Finance), Frederic Oladeinde (Transport), and Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure Mrs. Aramide Adeyoye also assisted.

Egube stated that the administration, which is led by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is ready to carry on with its “excellent work of delivering reliable and sufficient infrastructure that fits the needs of a 21st-century city.”

The commissioner stated that the government is committed to making sure that residents benefit from the government’s investments in the Integrated Transport Infrastructure. He also stated that the infrastructure in the transportation system will materialize into the birth of the operational light rail, the Red-Blue System, the first of its kind by a subnational government in Africa, and the 37 km Fourth Mainland Bridge.
