The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officers on election monitoring duty in Kaduna State were attacked while attempting to apprehend a suspected vote-buying on School Road, Unguwan Rimi, Kaduna.

Wilson Uwujaren, a spokesman for the EFCC, revealed that the team was working on intelligence on the alleged activities of one Kabiru Musa, who was seen in an amateur video allegedly inducing eligible voters by using his phone to transfer money into their accounts as they voted, and had mobilized to the scene to arrest the suspect.

Nevertheless, as soon as he was approached by the operatives, Musa got agitated and yelled, attracting the attention of members of his syndicate, who descended on the operatives, using various weapons that harmed some of them.

Uwujaren stated that it took enormous patience on the part of the operatives to disregard the unprovoked attack while insisting on arresting the subject.

In response to the event, the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, praised the operatives for exhibiting remarkable restraint in the face of extreme provocation.

He did, however, urge the public to refrain from harming Commission officers, warning that such behavior would no longer be accepted.

Remember that during the presidential and National Assembly elections, EFCC personnel were similarly attacked in some regions, causing some of their cars to be severely damaged.
