The United Kingdom has set aside £10 million for entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Africa, and South East Asia to address the energy issue in the countries that will benefit.

Mr. Joshua Adedeji, Knowledge Transfer Manager for Innovate UK Nigeria, stated yesterday at an energy catalyst conference in Abuja that the initiative was aimed to deliver affordable, reliable, sustainable, and contemporary energy for all.

He went on to say that it was one of the UK’s largest energy access-focused grant financing projects, emphasizing that the program’s goal was to hunt for solutions that may alleviate energy poverty in benefiting countries.

Adedeji stated that the energy catalysts’ objective was to speed the intervention required to accomplish SDG 7 by giving financial and advising support to innovators.

He added that the goal of transforming energy access was to provide access to affordable, clean energy services for poor homes, businesses, and social institutions in countries eligible for Official Development Assistance (ODA).

He stated that to qualify for the awards, innovators must seek out UK partners and propose their plans, emphasizing that the project must address transforming energy access and clean energy.

Mr. Ayo Ademilua, President of the Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria, said the intervention will increase access to clean energy in the country.

He stated that the organization would mobilize its members across the country and connect them with partners in the United Kingdom to profit from the grant.
