For the second time Binani’s victory has been questioned, the Independent National Electoral Commission has responded to the actions of REC over the declaration of Senator Binani as the winner of the Adamawa State Governorship Election, by the REC instead of the returning officer and even before all the results were collated.

INEC immediately released a statement, stating that they’d gotten notice of the injustice done in Adamawa State, and immediately ordered that the Collation of the election results be Suspended.

And further expressed its displeasure at the actions of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, as he acted more than his powers, therefore the result announced by the REC is null and void.

“The attention of the Commission has been drawn to a purported declaration of a winner in the Adamawa Governorship election by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) even when the process has not been concluded.

“The action of the REC is a usurpation of the power of the Returning Officer. It is null, void, and of no effect. “Consequently, the collation of results of the supplementary election is hereby suspended.

INEC further issued a directive, ordering REC, the returning officer, and all the political parties to report to Abuja for clarification on the issue.
