Erling Haaland, Manchester City Striker has won the Football Writers’ Association’s Footballer of the Year, making the youngest player to win this award since Ronaldo won it in 2006/07.

No doubt Haaland deserves the award, seeing his remarkable form for Manchester City this season, as he has scored 51 goals,  in all competitions for City.

Haaland won 72 percent of the votes, defeating Bukayo Saka who emerged as the runner-up, Arsenal’s captain Martin Odegaard came third.

Haaland who only joined the English Premier League this season, having transferred from Dortmund to Man City is one of the best signings we’ve seen over time, the young lad has established himself as a terror to defenders and goalkeepers.

Speaking about the award, Haaland said that he’s highly honored to be given such an award in his first season of the English Premier League, as this is an indication that his hard work is recognized.

He further said that he’s happy to be in City, as everyone is cooperative which gives him opportunities to score goals. He also appreciated them because without their help he wouldn’t have won the award.

On receiving the award, Haaland said, “To win the Football Writers’ Award in my first season in English football is an honor. I try every single day to be the best I can be and to be recognized like this means a lot to me.

“I have loved my time at City so far. My teammates are incredible, and they provide me with the chance to score goals.

“I want to thank all of them because I could not have won this award without them.”
