The two feudal military factions in Sudan have both agreed to a week-long ceasefire after a dialogue had been held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
This war between Sudan’s Army and the Rapid Support Force, RSF, has seen hundred killed, with millions more displaced as the feud enters its sixth week of battle.
If the agreement is honored by the two parties, the conflict will be paused and the warring sides will be allowed to hold on to their current positions, even without being active.
However, the Sudanese who are tired and in great need of humanitarian assistance are very skeptical about the ceasefire, with some of them saying that until the ceasefire day arrives and nobody is shot at, and if humanitarian aid arrives, then and only then would they believe that the ceasefire was real.
