U.S. Imposes Sanctions on Iranian and Chinese Entities Linked to Tehran’s Missile.

The United States has announced sanctions on numerous individuals and entities in Iran, China, and Hong Kong in a move aimed at increasing pressure on Tehran. The U.S. Treasury Department has accused this procurement network of providing support to Iran’s missile and military programs.

According to the Treasury’s statement, the network engaged in transactions and facilitated the acquisition of critical parts and technology for key actors involved in Iran’s ballistic missile development. Notably, Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, which is already under U.S. sanctions, was identified as a beneficiary of this network.

Among those targeted by the sanctions is Davoud Damghani, Iran’s defense attache in Beijing. The Treasury has accused him of coordinating military-related procurements from China for Iranian end-users.

Brian Nelson, the Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the Treasury, emphasized that the United States will continue its efforts to combat covert support for Iran’s ballistic missile production and other military programs by targeting illicit transnational procurement networks.
