Matawalle responded to the recent intrusion into his home on Friday, carried out by a combination of police and Department of State Services (DSS) personnel.

According to a report by Channels Television, the operatives swiftly went to the former governor’s residence and began removing the vehicles.

However, during an interview with BBC Hausa on Saturday, Matawalle accused the security agents of looting his wives’ and children’s personal belongings, including clothing materials. He mentioned that he had not been given a copy of the court order that supposedly authorized the security agents to raid his properties, as claimed by his successor, Dauda Lawal.

“I have been involved in the car business for a long time, and most of the vehicles that the security personnel confiscated from my two houses were purchased from America long before I became a governor,” the immediate past governor stated.

Matawalle explained that some of the impounded vehicles at his Maradun residence were gifts from well-wishers, all of which were branded with the images of President Tinubu and himself.

“The vehicles confiscated in Maradun were gifts given to me by well-wishers, and they all bore my images and those of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Surprisingly, they claimed that the vehicles belonged to the state government,” he expressed.

He also alleged that the security agents went beyond retrieving the vehicles and took valuables and possessions belonging to his wives and family members.

The former governor mentioned that he was in Abuja at the time, and nobody contacted him to inform him of the situation. “All I heard was that the security agents had invaded my private residences as if there is no law and order in Nigeria,” he lamented.

Matawalle declared that he would not request the return of the vehicles from the security agents or the state government, concluding, “However, I will follow the appropriate legal channels as stipulated by the law.”
