IPMAN Gives Reasons for Shutting Down Anambra Filling Stations

The Independent Petroleum Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), had on Wednesday, June 14, closed down filling stations in Anambra State, unleashing panic in major towns across the state.

In the aftermath of the fueling stations being closed down, several residents had panicked and hurriedly increased the pump price for the commodity.

In Awka town, petrol had immediately begun selling for 1000 Naira in the black market.

However, it turns out that residents need not have been alarmed as the Chairman of IPMAN, Mr Chinedu Anyaso had disclosed that the shutting down of the fuelling stations was to ensure that its members complied with attending a mandatory emergency general meeting scheduled in Awka.

He had revealed that the emergency meeting was to discuss the planned demolition of 16 filling stations in Ekwulobia, to make way for the construction of a flyover in the town.

Regardless of the explanations given by the IPMAN chairman, a prior warning could have been issued out to the general public to brace them for the proposed meeting.

As usual, greedy Nigerians had taken advantage of the temporary situation to make a profit to the detriment of their countrymen.
