Caroline Adepoju, the Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has declared a state of emergency regarding passport issues in the country. Adepoju emphasized the need to promptly tackle the difficulties faced by Nigerians in obtaining international passports during her visit to Lagos.
In addition, the NIS Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tony Akuneme, stated that the Acting CGI inaugurated a state-of-the-art Visa-on-Arrival Lounge at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. This facility demonstrates the NIS’s commitment to enhancing the travel experience for visitors entering Nigeria.
Adepoju utilized this occasion to unveil a comprehensive plan of action aimed at effectively addressing the challenges. The declaration of a state of emergency on passport issues signifies the NIS’s renewed dedication to resolving the obstacles faced by Nigerians in their passport applications.
Adepoju has instructed all Passport Control Officers, relevant units, and personnel, including missions abroad, to eliminate any barriers preventing Nigerians from promptly obtaining passports.
