Fuel Price Increase: IPMAN Speaks Out
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has refuted reports circulating that the association was planning to increase the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, (petrol) to 700 Naira per litre nationwide.

Dele Tajudeen, the Chairman of IPMAN for the Southwest Zone, had made the elucidation in an interview in Ibadan on Friday, June 30.

According to him, those reports were merely speculation and he had urged Nigerians to avoid engaging in panic buying.

In Tajudeen’s words, the product’s price would not be increased and would remain the same price it was being sold currently.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for removing the subsidy on petrol, adding that it was long overdue.

The IPMAN SouthWest Zone Chairman had however conceded that the slight raise in pump price was because of the transportation cost. He then assured Nigerians that the commodity will not be out of reach for them.

Recall that yesterday, June 30, it was reported that the Civil Society Organisations, CSOs were planning a protest against the purported fuel price increase. The protest is scheduled to hold on Monday, July 3. Even though IPMAN has stated that there are no plans to increase the price petrol, the CSOs are not backing down from their planned protest.

It remains to be seen if the IPMAN’s assurances hold weight.

More details to come….
