Adelola Adeleke, the Osun State Governor, has reiterated the willingness of his administration to ease the sufferings of residents of the state.
According to the Governor, there were plans by his administration to introduce palliatives to lessen the effects of subsidy removal on the people of the state.
He disclosed this on Friday, June 30, when the former governor of the state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola and other stakeholders of the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP had paid a courtesy visit to him.
One of the palliative plans include introducing public transport buses in the state and possibly adjusting work days and hours.
In Adeleke’s words:
“We (His government) want to make life easy and enjoyable for our people.”
Governor Adeleke had additionally stressed that he was focusing at running a government of the people in his State. To this effect, his administration had been working in alignment with his campaign promises and the party’s agenda.
Governor Adeleke’s palliative plan is admirable and in line with what the Governors of the States in the country should be doing. The Federal Government of Nigeria should also do its part in alleviating the sufferings of its citizens. It is not enough to sign bills ‘for the good of the country’, checkpoints should be in place to help the citizens deal with the ever-changing economy.
The present economy in Nigeria is discouraging to say the least and the citizens can do with any help they can get from the government.
